MY MUSIC

On this page you'll be able to find some examples of the music I've worked on over the last couple years of being involved in the Scottish Music Scene. It includes a bit of everything from my work with previous bands, some material I've been writing in my free time, as well as tracks that I've written and produced for clients as a songwriter/producer.

Each track has a little bit of info next to it explaining what category it falls into, so be sure to have a listen to what I've shared around and I'll be back regularly to update with more more and change things about to best represent the work I'm most proud of.

As always, if you're interested in what I've listed here, please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to work together, I'm happy to write music, add some extra instrumentation to your tracks, mix, work on lyrics or if you're ever looking for a session musician to jump into some shows with, I'm always interested in being involved.

Thanks for checking things out, and be sure to visit other sections of my site to learn a bit more about me and what I do.

Hate YouLost All Hope

This track was written for Canadian Pop Punk band "Lost All Hope" for their debut EP. I'm proud to say that I produced all the instrumentals and lyrics for this track for the band and then they sent me over the vocals to add to the mix and finalise it for them.

While I personally would have mixed the track differently than how it turned out, the band were happy with how it sounded and used it as one of their first releases.

Big thank you to them for trusting me with writing music for them and I wish them all the best for the future ahead, they're a lovely bunch of people.

A Match Made in HellLost All Hope

This was also a track provided for the Canadian Pop Punk band "Lost All Hope". This one ordered as an "Unmixed Demo" from my Fiverr page, they wanted to go with something a bit different, quite orchestral, gothic sounding but with a "Big" sound.

We developed this one and it later also ended up being released by the band following the release of "Hate You" on Spotify.

While this one is unmixed I feel it acts as a good example of some of the services I provide on Fiverr, and of course it was a lot of fun to work on with the guys to get it sounding they way they wanted.

This track is an original piece I wrote in 2020 when I was going back through some of the old metal bands I grew up listening to.

I've always loved the sounds of mixing metal music with synth elements that I feel gives the songs a really interesting dynamic and twist than what you'd normally expect so I had a lot of fun coming up with the vision for this song and bringing it all together.

It was also great to be able to work with some really high quality drum sounds sourced from another freelancer, and it really does give the song that extra kick of punchiness that it needs.

EVANESCE

This track was written for a personal project. It's quite an ambiguous song, purposefully instrumental with rock and prog elements that I was really interested in at the time of writing.

I enjoyed experimenting with different samples within this song and used things like a heartbeat monitor, the sounds of an oxygen tank and other miscellaneous medical equipment to give it a bit of a different sound when things drop out.

The video features some of my most recent gigging highlights.

SaudadeUnfinished Business

This one is a cover from a track made for "Resident Evil 2". It was also recorded during Covid-19 and released on YouTube as a small tribute to a game that a few friends and I had played a lot to pass free time (something we had plenty of given the lockdowns).

We collaborated with a great singer from Spain and were really happy with the outcome of this one, especially given it was the early days of when I was getting used to mixing and recording at home myself.

This was also my first attempt at mixing vocals, and given that I had no prior experience I'm fairly chuffed with how it turned out.

Creating this track was a lot of fun as it was just written by myself and a few close friends who had an idea from the intro riff.

Having that ascending run on the guitar accompanied by some big chords in the background is a really simple idea but it pays off and gives it a nice dynamic as the song builds up into the chorus.

For a song written just for some fun, we're really happy with how it all came together and it's one I can definitely see becoming part of a live set one day.

Originally written in late 2017, this one is an old original I wrote for Vague Reality.

It started out as a bit of a joke song at first, written to see if I could get away with keeping the song as generic and simplified as possible, but then later developed into something that quickly became one of our favourites to play in the band.

Even with its simplified structure and ideas, I'm really quite happy with this one and would love to bring it back to a live set someday just for a quick call back to the early days of songwriting.

This track was the final release from my first band "Vague Reality" who formed in 2017.

We had lot of fun gigging across a fair bit of Central Scotland together but decided to call it a day in 2019 and in 2021 we decided to release the track as it was sitting on a Google Drive going to waste.

This was a lot of fun to record as my first time playing piano on a recording. While the overall track itself is quite chilled, it's a fun example of where I came from in the industry and felt important to include as an example.

NEVER

Now or NeverConnor M.
00:00 / 01:53

I wrote this one after hearing a viral song on TikTok that had a section in it where the band all stops and starts in time, it became huge on there for a short while and it stuck with me just how fun it sounded.

So I decided to try and write something along the same lines as that, which is something I do when I'm in a bit of a writers block.

The outcome was this song, and while it's no one that I'm likely to take much further than the version I have already, it's always good to write when the inspiration hits.

Similarly to the previous song, this one was written while I was dealing with a bit of writers block.

I typically tend to record guitars with a bit less intense picking, choosing a more laid back approach, but for this one I switched it up a bit and played quite aggressively pick-y, and more indie than I normally would, and honestly I'm quite happy with the outcome.

Given that it's something written as a way to break out of writers block, it's got a bit of life to it and is something that could be later developed.

When writing this track I was really into some of the Southern Rock bands I grew up listening to.

Bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Drive-By Truckers and Blackberry Smoke.

It's not as evident when listening to the song but thats why I opted to add the light piano in the background of this song, inspired by some of those great songs that I've come to love.

I'm really into the sound of this one and plan to give it a bit of a freshen up and hopefully release it sometime in the near future as an original piece.

EVIL LIES WITHIN

The final song on this list is one that I produced back in 2020.

This ones a heavier metal track I produced after a friend shared a guitar riff they had worked on.

The riff itself was very strong and one that I admired so I worked hard to come up with a vision to accompany it.

We collaborated on ideas until we had found the right sound that we felt suited the riff and then worked together to bring the ideas to life.

It's one that I know we're both very proud of and while it's unfortunately not been one to make it to a live set, I know its one of those songs that we're both happy to have worked on together.

And of course as I mentioned, I love hearing metal songs with synth elements.
